R. N. Iyengar

This paper explores memories of a natural disaster scattered in ancient Sanskrit literature — in particular in the Skanda Purana and the two Epics — and builds a coherent picture of the fall of a meteorite in the region between Mount Abu and Kachchh.

Dr. R. N. Iyengar is a Raja Ramanna Fellow and teaches at the Dept. of Civil Engineering, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. He is also an Indologist with expertise in archaeoastronomy.
